Same Shape, Different Movement
Watching Milan and Inter line up in the same 3-5-2 tells you very little. The shape is identical. The movement inside it is not.
At Inter, the strike pair stays compact. One drops, the other runs. The defenders cannot follow both. That synchronised movement is what opens the passing lane into the channel, not the formation itself -8.
For Milan, Pulisic and Leao have not built that same coordination. They alternate injuries, and the timing between them suffers. When one moves, the other is not reading it. The space between the lines stays closed -8.
The full-backs matter here too. If they push high without cover, the space behind them opens for the opposition's first pass forward. That is where the game can turn in two seconds.
Watch who moves first, not who holds the ball.
Question: When two strikers play together, who should decide the run, the one with the ball or the one without it?
