Portugal's captain walks out

Cristiano Ronaldo left the Portugal camp this week after a row with boss Jorge Jesus. He's flying back to Saudi Arabia. No emergency meeting. No more talking. Bruno Fernandes says he's spoken to him. The squad plays Norway tonight without him. -1-15

A captain quitting mid-camp is Sunday league behavior. If he doesn't want to defend the shirt, leave it on the hook. Bruno can talk about symbols all he wants. Symbols don't track runners.

Watch Portugal's shape without him. If the front line presses like they mean it, the Ronaldo era is done. If they stand around, it's a circus. Leave the price alone until kickoff.
