A new shape at Milan: the pressing trigger
The first match against Torino will tell us how quickly the new 3-4-2-1 settles. Ruben Amorim's system asks the front three to funnel play toward the sideline and cut the inside passing lane -6. Watch for that trigger: a back-pass, an imperfect touch, or slow movement toward the flank.
If the press works, Torino's full-backs will be forced long. That’s where the space appears, between their defence and midfield, where the second ball drops. If the three Milan defenders are too wide or too deep, that gap opens the other way.
The first ten minutes expose the shape. Look at the full-backs, not the ball.
Question: Against a back three, which passing lane do you cut first?
