The XI is announced and everyone reacts. But names on a sheet do not defend. The shape they take on the pitch is what matters.

A 4-3-3 can become a 4-5-1 without the ball if the wingers track. A 3-5-2 can leave the wide centre-backs exposed if the wing-backs push too high. Read the first ten minutes for the real formation. Watch the full-backs. Watch the distance between the midfield and attack. That tells you which passing lanes exist.

The best pre-match read is often corrected in the opening minutes. Adjust your view before you adjust your stake.
