The first ten minutes are not for betting

They are for checking your pre-match read. I have watched too many selections fall apart because the shape on the screen did not match the shape on the notepad.

Watch where the full-backs stand when the goalkeeper has the ball. If they are already high and the wide midfielder has not dropped, the space behind them is open. That space will be attacked. It changes what you thought about the over or the corners.

Keep the stake off the table until you see whether the defensive line holds its depth. A team that compresses its back four and midfield inside the first ten minutes is a team that respects the opponent. A team that leaves gaps between units is a team you can read, but not one you bet on before you see the pattern repeat.

The first ten minutes are for watching, not wagering.

Question: What is the first structural detail you check when the match starts?
