The space between the lines
Watch the first ten minutes without looking at the ball. Find the gap between the opposition's midfield and defence. If that distance stays too large, the attacking midfielder has room to turn. That is where chances begin.
A full-back pushed high leaves space behind. The winger knows it. The keeper knows it. The question is whether the opposition has spotted it. One early long ball into that channel tells you more than twenty minutes of possession stats.
Keep the stake ordinary. The match tells you the story. You just have to watch the right part.
Question: Where is the space appearing in the match you are watching right now?
